Amazing!

I think you could almost frame that picture of the rainbow and hang it on your wall! It's amazing.
It's fun to pretend to be different puppet characters!

I hope you have a super fun summer!

Fourteenth CVA Contact

In school we talked about rainbows a little while ago and this one was in our backyard this week.  Isn't it beautiful.  It was raining and sunny at the same time!  I didn't know it could do that!
This week I also had a friend over and we made puppets on sticks and did a little show.  It was a lot of fun!

Peanuts?!

I had no idea peanuts grow in this state! I've never heard of anyone growing those. I might have to try some of those around here. I bet your mom will appreciate the extra chores done around the house. If you get good at counting money it might help you get a summer job sometime when you get older. Just make sure you always wash your hands when you're done touching the change. Money can be very dirty! I bet your uncle will really like the letter. I know I enjoy reading what you write every week!

Thirteenth CVA Contact

This week I got to plant a lot of different plants.  I was in charge of planting the peanuts!  I LOVE nuts!!!  I hope they start to grow soon so I can try some.  In math I started learning how to count money.  Maybe mom will give me some extra change so I can keep practicing.  She says I have to do extra chores to get some.  I also wrote a letter to my uncle who is living in Germany right now.  I hope he likes it!

No Mustache?

No mustache for you, huh? Your look in the picture says, "back off!" I bet the Chocolate Factory has to do a lot of cleaning. All that chocolate could make a mess if you didn't clean up pretty often. I wonder if you are going to try making some of your own desserts at home.

Twelfth CVA Contact

I got to go to a chocolate factory.  The candy maker wanted to give me a chocolate mustache, but i didn't want him to.
 The chocolate tasted really good!
 Yum!!!
This is me and my friend taking turns putting sprinkles on.  That was my favorite part.  Then we came home and read a book about a chocolate factory.

Fun with clay

I wonder how you made your own fossils? My kids and I found an area with a lot of clay in a stream by where we live. We like to go there in the summer and play with the clay. We all get pretty muddy, but it washes off in the water! Maybe we could try to make some fossils too.

Eleventh CVA Contact

I got to go to a dinosaur museum!  This is one of the dinosaurs I got to see.

This dinosaur had a hard shell like a turtle to protect it.

Look at those claws!

This is a triceratops because he has three horns.

This is a flying dinosaur.  Look how big its wings would have been.

This is a shell that became a fossil.

These are dinosaur eggs.

This is a sabertooth cat.  It reminded me of the movie Ice Age!  I had a lot of fun and would like to go back again!

Tenth CVA contact

This week I looked at fossils.
This one is a animal that used to live in the water.
This is a VERY sharp tooth.
I even got to make my own fossils out of clay.  Next week I get to go to a fossil museum.  I can hardly wait!

Busy!

Sorry if I haven't gotten a chance to post to the blog recently. I've been a busy boy recently! Thank you for keeping up on your posts!

Trampoline!

I bet you're having a ton of fun with the new trampoline! Have you noticed when you and your sister jump at the same time you go higher? Grandma just got a new trampoline for my kids to use too. I wonder if you got dizzy when you were dancing like a tumbleweed? That probably involved a lot of rolling!

Ninth CVA Contact

This week we got a trampoline.  My mom says I have to do my school work though before I can go jump on it.  I got to learn about rainbow this week.  I got to mix colors to make new colors.  It was a lot of fun.  I love my dance class.  Sometimes we get to pretend we are leaves blowing in the wind, but last time we got to pretend we were tumbleweeds.  I like dancing.

Nice

It is so nice of you to read to your brother! Did you know that reading to him will help make him a better reader when he gets older? Your dance class sure sounds like fun! I'm trying to picture you dancing like a leaf in the wind. I guess the dance might change depending on how strong the wind was!

Eighth CVA Contact

This week I got to go to dance class.  I got to pretend that I was a leaf blowing in the wind.  Then I had to dance fast if the music was fast and slow if the music was slow.  It was a lot of fun.  I am also learning a new song with movements in my Tavacci class.  In math I am getting really good at writing my numbers.  I also have been practicing my reading.  I even have been reading to my little brother.  He likes it when I read to him!

Rainbow

I've never seen that experiment before. I didn't think about all those pretty colors being hidden inside the black ink! It looks like fun!

Seventh CVA Contact

I learned to tie my shoes this week!  It takes me a little while to do it, but I am getting faster.
I got to celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday this week.  My mom read The Cat in the Hat and then I got to make his hat out of red and white tissue paper.
For math I got to count the different colors in a pile of goldfish.  I had to write the numbers down and tell which color and more and which had the smallest.
In science, I made oobleck.  I didn't really like it because it was SUPER messy.  I touched it though and it felt really wierd!

Sixth CVA Contact

I got to be a detective in science.  We got to use markers.
Then we dipped the paper into the water just a little ways.
When we were done the different markers made pretty colors on the papers.  I like the one that looks like a rainbow the best.

Senses

How many senses do you have? It must have been fun to have your friend over. Did you trace your friend the same way you did with your sister a few weeks ago?

You are doing a super job in math! Do you have a favorite story form the Grimm Brothers?

Friday, February 18, 2011

Fifth CVA Contact

This week in writing I wrote about the Grimm Brothers.  G's are kind of hard to write, but I am getting better.  In math I can almost read all the questions by myself, without my moms help!  In science I used a magnifying glass to look at my fingerprints and write down what they look like.  Then I helped my mom dust my fingerprints and lift them up with tape.  I also got to have a friend over and we drew ourselves on paper and then I learned about my senses.

Detective!

Maybe you can be a detective when you grow up! Have you ever heard of Sherlock Holmes? Detectives have to be really smart. Doing the fingerprints sure looked messy. I bet your mom made you wash your hands good before you could sit on any of the furniture!  When babies are born the hospital puts hand and feet prints on the birth certificate. It might be fun to look at that some day to see how small you used to be.

Fourth CVA Contact

This week I finally got my math book.  I LOVE math!  In science we learned about how police catch bad guys.
I wrote down what I look like on a piece of paper.  My sister had to help me measure.
Then I got to get my fingers messy with pencil.
 Look at my messy fingers!
Here I am looking at my fingerprints.  They are all different.
 Here they all are!

Fun Learning

It is so good that you like learning! I like learning too. I bet you're a good listener when your mom is reading. When you get better at reading you'll be able to read to her more and she can work on her listening! It's fun to think that little girls were hearing stories just like you a couple thousand years ago.

Third CVA Contact

This week I did my writing.  I am getting a lot better but I am a little bit slow.  I also practiced some of my shapes.  I am still waiting for my math to come in the mail.  I can't wait!  In history we read a story from ancient Africa about a spider and a turtle.  I really liked it!  I like listening to my mom read.  I am getting better at reading.  My mom has to help me on some of the bigger words.

Fun!

It looks like you both had a great time tracing each other! Does your sister ever actually wear clothes that are that colorful? It sure would brighten up the day of anyone who saw her.

Second CVA Contact

This week for one of my art projects I got to trace my sister and then she traced me.  When my sister traced me it tickled and it was really hard to hold still.
Then we got to decorate them with special paint markers.  I like all of the different colors!

Writing in clay

What if you had to practice your writing in that clay everyday?! If your mom wanted it perfect, it would take all day everyday!

Keep working on your writing and it will get better, easier, and quicker. When you learn new things, it goes kind of slow at first, but soon your writing will be much faster and easier.

It's fun to learn about ancient people, but I'm kind of glad I live in today's world!

My first homeschool contact

This week we talked about people that lived a long time ago called nomads and egyptians.
This is me painting a picture like they used to do in caves a long time ago.  I painted a bow and arrow.
This is me working on my writing.  My mom makes me do it perfect and it takes a long time.
Here I am rolling out clay so I can write my name in it like the Sumerians.  It was REALLY hard!
I used the tip of a plastic knife to press into the clay to write my name.  I think I like our ABC's much better!

Hi Emma

It sure is exciting that you're starting school! I'm looking forward to hearing from you each week.
